Britney Spears claims to have ‘obliterated’ Usain Bolt’s 100m world record

Britney Spears has sensationally claimed she ran a 5.97 second 100-metre dash, a time which would make her almost four seconds faster than Olympic legend Usain Bolt.

The Baby One More Time singer made the claim on Instagram on Thursday after revealing she had been getting back into running.

Sharing a screenshot of her iPhone stopwatch, which showed a time of 5.97, the 38 year old was ecstatic with her personal best time.

“Ran my first 5! Getting over your fear of pushing it in the beginning is key,” Spears wrote.

“Once I did that I hit 5!!!!! Usually I run 6 or 7… my first try was 9… and now I did it whoop!!!!! 100 meter dash.”

Her fans on social media quickly picked up the fact Spears was claiming to be significantly faster than the fastest man ever over that distance.

Usain Bolt currently holds the world record over 100m, with a time of 9.58 seconds at the IAAF Athletics Championship in Berlin in 2009.

“She’s four seconds faster than Usain Bolt!” one commenter wrote on Instagram.

“She obviously ran a 100m dash faster than any one human in the world,” another wrote.

Soon after, Spears’ world-record claim was picked on Twitter, and people were having plenty of fun with it.

The mother of two also made waves earlier in the week after calling for a redistribution of wealth across society due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“During this time of isolation, we need connection now more than ever,” Spears wrote on Instagram.

“Call your loved ones, write virtual love letters. Technologies like virtual communication, streaming and broadcasting are part of our community collaboration.

“We will learn to kiss and hold each other through the waves of the web.

“We will feed each other, re-destribute [sic] wealth, strike. We will understand our own importance from the places we must stay. Communion moves beyond walls. We can still be together.”

The post was shared by ‘The Democratic Socialists of America’ on Instagram, along with the caption: “It’s Britney, comrade!”
