Second Sydney COVID case as new venues placed on alert including Westfield Bondi Junction

A household contact of a NSW man infected with COVID-19 has also tested positive to the virus in Sydney.

As a result, NSW Health has identified further venues of concern associated with the case reported earlier on Wednesday.

Urgent investigations into the source of the infection, contact tracing and genome sequencing are all underway after NSW Health confirmed a man in his 60s, who works as a driver transporting international flight crew, tested positive.

He had a saliva test on Tuesday and a follow-up PCR test on Wednesday confirmed his infection.

In the wake of his household contact also returning a positive result, more venues have been added to those listed earlier on Wednesday.
