Health Minister Hunt says Australia is the ‘envy of the world’ on Covid-19 response

Health Minister Greg Hunt says “thankfully” the nation is once again in a situation where there are zero Australians currently in intensive care as a result of COVID-19.

Mr Hunt spruiked Australia’s handling of the pandemic, as he compared the nation’s figures to those currently being experienced around the globe.

He said zero lives have been lost in Australia as a result of COVID-19 for the entire 2021 year so far.

“That’s an extraordinary, an inconceivable, an almost unimaginable result for this country,” Mr Hunt said during Question Time on Thursday.

“We thank all of our doctors and our nurses, we thank everybody involved, all of the Australians.

“Those twin strategies of containment and capacity have put Australia in this position, which I think we can safely say when we look at the economic results and the health results, truly do make us the envy of the world.”
